The Mississippi State University (MSU) Center for Continuing Education offers WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)-approved online Advanced Career Training programs designed to prepare individuals for today's in-demand careers. Eligible participants may qualify for WIOA funding through the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) to help cover training costs. Unlike a loan, WIOA funding does not need to be repaid, does not affect your credit score, and may provide up to $1,800 toward eligible course costs, depending on the program you choose.
WHO CAN APPLY?
WIOA funding is designed to help eligible individuals access training that leads to employment in high-demand careers. You may qualify if you:
- Have been laid off or received notice of unemployment
- Are unemployed due to economic conditions
- Meet WIOA income eligibility requirements
While eligibility is determined by your local Mississippi WIN Job Center, applicants generally must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Meet the registration requirements of the Military Selective Service Act

HOW TO APPLY
Individuals interested in WIOA funding should contact their local Mississippi WIN Job Center to determine eligibility and begin the application process. You may then contact MSU’s Center for Continuing Education for an acceptance letter into the program.
