Lead Renovator, Repair, & Painting Initial
As of April 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repair, or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be EPA Lead-Safe Certified. Individuals and firms that are not certified could face fines of up to $30,000 a day! In this 1-day (8-hour) class, you’ll receive hands-on training and real-world examples from experienced instructors to ensure you gain the skills and knowledge you need to become certified.

Certified lead paint renovators are required to take this half-day (4- hour) refresher course every 3 years to renew their certification.

Lead Inspector Initial
Learn how to determine whether or not lead-based paint or other lead hazards are present in sufficient quantities to require abatement according to regulatory guidelines in this 3-day (24- hour) course. Also develop an understanding of the advantages and limitations of a variety of lead paint inspection techniques, along with methods of implementation.

Lead Inspector Refresher
This 1-day (8-hour) course will teach you the legal obligations facing inspectors when inspecting for lead hazards, in addition to showing you how to determine whether or not lead-based paint or other hazards are present in sufficient quantities to require abatement according to regulatory guidelines.

Lead Risk Assessor Initial
If you are interested in performing lead-based paint risk assessment or lead hazard screening services, this 2-day (16-hour) class will give you the skills you need. You will learn how to perform on-site lead inspections, take samples, determine the severity of lead hazards, and develop options for eliminating those hazards. You’ll receive hands-on training and hear about real-world examples from experienced instructors that will prepare you to apply your knowledge to the field.

Lead Supervisor Initial
This four-day (32 hour) course is for individuals seeking certification as a Lead Supervisor. This course is MDEQ approved and meets the requirements for lead abatement supervisor per 40CFR745 Subpart L This 32-hour course, through lecture and hands-on training teaches students that plan on overseeing a lead abatement project. The Supervisor course covers topics covered in the worker class, thus allowing the supervisor to perform as a worker. Additional topics covered in the supervisor course are contract planning, project management site preparation, executing the abatement plan and recordkeeping.

Lead Worker Initial
This course is MDEQ approved and meets the requirements for lead abatement worker per 40CFR745 Subpart L. This 16-hour course, through lecture and hands-on training, teaches students, who wish to conduct lead abatement activities, the history of lead, health effects of lead exposure, worker protection and safety, containment, clean up, waste disposal and clearance methods.
