Are CareerStep programs offered through Mississippi State University or are they completely online?
These programs are completely online.
Will I earn my certification after completion of the program?
No, CareerStep programs do not directly award certifications. Each program page lists specific third-party certifications your career program will help you prepare for upon completion. Your program also comes with a voucher for a relevant, industry-recognized exam. Depending on your training program, you can prepare for various certifications in healthcare.
Are the healthcare training courses self-paced, or do I have deadlines?
Yes, CareerStep healthcare training programs are totally flexible, online, and self-paced. You will have access to your program for a set amount of time (depending on the program), but when and where you study is completely up to you.
Will I be working with instructors at Mississippi State University?
No, however, CareerStep’s instructors are industry experts with thorough knowledge of the programs they support—and they love sharing that knowledge. They’re great at helping with content-related questions and explaining more complex concepts.
Does CareerStep accept FAFSA?
CareerStep cannot offer—or accept—traditional financial aid, such as student scholarships, loans, and grants through FAFSA. However, CareerStep does offer a variety of flexible payment options, installment plans, and even discounts for U.S. veterans, Active Duty service members, and their spouses.
Do I need clinical hours to complete my training?
Yes, clinical hours are an essential component of your training—particularly as you work towards certification and potential employment. They give you a chance to test your current skill level and put all your new knowledge to work in real-world settings.
