Participants will learn how nine major provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) can be implemented in the workplace. Topics include common violations; inspections, citations and penalties; walking and working surfaces; means of egress and fire protection;
hazardous materials; material handling; electrical safety; and machine guarding. This course is taught by an OSHA-authorized instructor. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a card from OSHA certifying completion of the course.

Participants who complete the training will receive a Certification General Industry Certification from Mississippi State University and an official 10 Hour General Industry Safety Card from OSHA.

This course covers construction safety and health principles and OSHA policies, procedures, and construction industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on the most hazardous areas using OSHA standards as a guide. This course is taught by an OSHA-authorized instructor. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a card from OSHA certifying completion of the course.

This course is the prerequisite to the OTI 500 course. It will cover OSHA policies, procedures, and standards for the construction industry as well as safety and health principles. Each section of the OSHA Construction Standards will be covered. Special emphasis will be placed on those areas that are more hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. OSHA’s 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standard will be provided. Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a Construction Safety 30-hour course completion card.

  • Identify elements of a successful construction safety program
  • Identify the more frequently cited OSHA standards

This course for private sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. This course is the prerequisite to the OTI 501 course. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Safety Standard will be provided. Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a General Industry Safety 30-hour course completion card.

  • Locate and apply OSHA Safety and Health standards, policies and procedures
  • Utilize OSHA standards and regulations to supplement an on-going safety and health program
  • Identify common violations of OSHA standards and propose abatement actions
  • Describe appropriate abatement procedures for selected safety and health hazards.
