Prescribed Burning Short Course

Date: October 21-23, 2008
Location: Hattiesburg, MS
CFE Credits: Category I, 23
Fee: $400 (MFC employees - $250)

Who Should Attend?
If you prescribe fire or apply fire, or plan to in the future, you will greatly benefit from this course. This course is designed for professional forest resource managers. Registered Foresters, landowners, or anyone interested in prescribed burning will also find this course to be an excellent value.

Prescribed Burning Prerequisite
If you are new to this course, you will need to take a prerequisite that is provided by Mississippi State University FREE upon your registration in the MSU Prescribed Burning Short Course. This self-paced correspondence course provides an understanding of several topics that are a must for prescribed burning certification. Upon satisfactory completion, you will be ready to take the Prescribed Burning Short
Course. You will also receive 10 Category 5 CFEs.

Who Should Attend?
Anyone interested in the use of prescribed burning for forest and wildlife habitat management in the south.  Already certified burn managers through the Mississippi Forestry Commission will also find this course to be an excellent refresher.

This course will serve as a refresher and build upon the Prescribed Burning Short Course.  Topics covered include:
