What are CEU’s?

The continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized unit of measure for non-credit continuing education programs. It is used to document learning that differs from the traditional academic learning experience and has become vital as a means of determining the value of a learning experience in continuing education and training.

How are CEU’s calculated?

One CEU is defined as ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience. Fractions of units can also be awarded (5 hours = 0.5 units).

How much do CEU’s cost?

You can earn up to 4.0 CEU’s for $20.00, any credit awarded above 4.0 will cost $20.00 per CEU.

Where are my CEU’s registered?

The Division of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education provides the service of maintaining a permanent registry for 20 years for professional development (non-credit) activities meeting the criteria for Continuing Education Units.

How can I be sure of quality programming?

Mississippi State University has been issuing CEU’s for programming since the university guidelines were established in 1981, and has worked to assure the quality of the national criteria and establish those guidelines as the accepted standard of measure for all continuing education programs.

These nationally adopted criteria are applied and adhered to all program design and activities accepted by the MSU Division of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education.

When will I get my CEU's?

After a workshop/conference has ended, the partners will send AOCE completed participant forms, usually via the mail. Upon receipt of the participant forms in teh office of AOCE, CEU Certificates will be processed and mailed within 24 - 48 hours.
